Storrar Cowdry’s Elaine Richardson appointed to the Law Society’s Family Law Committee

Family Law Specialist and Mediator Elaine Richardson has been appointed to the Family Law Committee of the Law Society following a successful application and interview. Elaine has been appointed to contribute individually and as part of a team to the formation, development and communication of the Law Society’s policy on issues concerning Family Law and on related topics. The Family Law Committee’s remit is to keep under review, and to promote improvements in, family law, practice and procedure, including child care law and procedure.
The main tasks of the members of the committee are to advise and assist in the formulation, development and communication of policy issues on the basis of their expertise and experience. Members will also consider and advise on policy initiatives and proposals, research papers, briefings and legal developments, consultations and, where necessary, will assist with the drafting of papers and responses.
The general skills and abilities required of all the members of the Family Law Committee include a capacity to make a sustained commitment and contribution to the work of the Law Society by having an awareness of the key issues affecting the legal profession, diagnostic skills to find solutions to problems, the ability to work as a team, excellent communication skills, written and spoken and the ability to consider and advise on the development of policy and best practice.
