Darlene Storrar appointed as Under Sheriff of Cheshire
6 April, 2022
Darlene Storrar was sworn in as the new Under Sheriff of Cheshire on 1st April 2022.
The High Sheriff has a legal duty to appoint an Under Sheriff at the start of his or her year, usually a local solicitor. Often the Under Sheriff will hold their post for several years, a continuity which High Sheriffs find extremely helpful. Today the role is largely concerned with helping the High Sheriff at ceremonial occasions as well as assisting with other legal matters such as those relating to parliamentary elections. The Under Sheriff’s support and time is most generously and freely given.
The Under Sheriff of Cheshire is Darlene Storrar, the Managing Partner at Storrar Cowdry. Darlene’s expertise is in the financial aspects of divorce, particularly high value divorces, in which she has specialised for over 30 years and she still has time to run a small caseload of clients dealing with the financial aspects of divorce.
Educated at Queen Mary College, London and then graduating with honours in law from Liverpool University, Darlene has been with the firm since its formation in 1983. Her reputation as a specialist family lawyer is well known throughout the North West.
Darlene is a past President of the Cheshire and North Wales Law Society (2013/2014). In 2016 Darlene was awarded the Cheshire & North Wales Law Society Lifetime Achievement Award.
Darlene’s expertise and recent instructions relate to high value divorce settlements, dealing with complex company ownership structures and numerous pension assets.
