Storrar Cowdry in fundraising efforts for charities
18 March, 2013
Storrar Cowdry hosted a charity 5-a-side football tournament in support of Comic Relief on 15 March.
The event was attended by 12 teams comprising local professionals and businesses, and raised over £600.
Storrar Cowdry’s hopefuls
Storrar Cowdry’s team finished joint third, bowing out bravely in the semi-finals against eventual winnners Total Footcare from Mold.
Paul Coombs, who organised the event, said: “We are extremely grateful to everyone who contributed their time and donations to make this tournament possible. We hope that this can become a regular event, as it was clearly a hotly-contested competition.”
The event was held at Deeside Leisure Centre on their state of the art 3G pitches, which had been kindly made available to host the tournament.
Movember proves a huge success
In November, Storrar Cowdry raised over £800 as part of Movember, the international month of moustache-growing in aid of men’s health charities Prostate Cancer UK and the Institute of Cancer Research.
